How Many Tabs Are Open in Your Brain? Your mind isn't broken; it's overloaded!!

If your brain were a laptop right now... How many tabs would be open? That proposal you still need to finish. The client who hasn't responded. Your monthly targets. School fees. Payroll. The supplier who let you down. Your tax return. That business idea. The gym you've been meaning to join. The side hustle everyone is talking about. The podcast you "must" start. The investment someone else made. The holiday you saw on Instagram. The business another entrepreneur just launched.
Now imagine trying to run all of that... at the same time.
No wonder you're anxious. No wonder you feel busy but somehow unproductive. No wonder you end every day exhausted without feeling like you've actually moved forward. Your mind isn't broken. It's overloaded!!
Computers don't suddenly become slow because they're old. Most of the time, they're simply trying to process too many things simultaneously. Every open application consumes memory. Every unnecessary tab steals processing power. Eventually, even the fastest machine begins to freeze.
Entrepreneurs do exactly the same thing.
We convince ourselves that we need to be in every room. Every opportunity looks like "the opportunity." Every trend feels urgent. Every successful entrepreneur makes us question whether we're doing enough.
So we open another tab. Then another. Then another.
Until we can no longer focus on the one thing that actually moves the business forward. The most successful entrepreneurs I've worked with are rarely the busiest. They're the clearest. They know what deserves their attention and, more importantly, what doesn't.
Here's another trap that quietly opens dozens of unnecessary tabs: comparison.
Social media has convinced us that everyone is winning except us. Someone bought a new car. Someone opened a second branch. Someone raised investment. Someone expanded internationally. Someone hired twenty staff members.
So immediately another tab opens... "Maybe I should do that too."
But you've forgotten something incredibly important....you're looking at someone else's outcome without knowing their context. You don't know:
How much debt they're carrying.
How many years they struggled before that moment.
Whether that expansion is actually profitable.
The sacrifices they made.
The risks they're managing.
The sleepless nights they're not posting.
Context changes everything.
My friend, a business doing R50 million in revenue has different problems from one doing R500,000. A parent has different priorities from someone with no dependants. A business in year one should not be making decisions based on a business in year fifteen. Yet we compare chapters without reading the whole book. That's how entrepreneurs become distracted. They stop building their business and start chasing someone else's version of success.
Sometimes the most strategic decision isn't opening another tab. It's closing five of them. Not every opportunity deserves a yes. Not every partnership deserves your attention. Not every trend deserves your energy. Not every comparison deserves space in your mind. Focus isn't about doing more. It's about protecting your processing power because a focused entrepreneur with one clear priority will almost always outperform an overwhelmed entrepreneur trying to do twenty things at once.
So today, ask yourself one question: Which tabs need to be closed?
Because your next breakthrough may not come from adding something new. It may come from finally making room for what matters most.
Yours in closed tabs,
