Love, Logistics & Leadership.
Dear Entrepreneurs,
Happy Valentine’s Month. The month of love they call it..... As I sit here thinking about love and how I'm going to be spending the day… the reality is that my car is going to be transport for my daughter's social life and I'll be spending the day being her "uber driver". Because for a lot parents, valentines day isn’t just about roses and red outfits. It’s about drop-offs. Pick-ups. Socials. Activities. “Mom, I need to be there at 4.” “Mom, can you fetch me at 7?” And somehow, in between, trying to run a business.
And then it hit me.
Entrepreneurship is basically Valentine’s Day every single day. Stay with me.
💘 1. Love Is a Choice (So Is Business)
Nobody accidentally builds a business. Just like nobody accidentally sustains love. You wake up and choose it. You show up. You forgive. You try again. You keep investing. Some days it’s red roses. Some days it’s reconciliation without the chocolates. Some days it’s “why did I sign up for this?” Haaa..........That’s business I tell you.
🚗 2. Love Is Logistics
Let me tell you something...If you can coordinate: School schedules, social calendars, outfit drama, snack negotiations......And still meet a client deadline - My brother, my sister, you can run a company.
Entrepreneurship is not just strategy decks and boardrooms.
It’s systems.
It’s timing.
It’s managing expectations.
It’s anticipating needs before someone even says them out loud.
Sound familiar? That’s parenting. That’s partnership. That’s leadership.
💌 3. Your Business Is in a Relationship With You
We love talking about building, scaling and growth. But here’s a thought: If your business were your Valentine…
Would it say you:
Listen to it enough?
Invest enough in it (Money and time)?
Respect its boundaries (systems and processes)?
Or you only show up when you need money? Be honest. I’m the business doctor, Keitumetse Lekaba, not the judgment doctor.
The truth is, healthy relationships require: Clear communication, consistency, emotional maturity and Cash flow (yes, I said it, otherwise what are you going to go on dates with? The love? I dont think so). If your business is constantly stressed… It’s not toxic. It’s under-managed.
🌹 4. Love Is Sacrifice (But Not Self-Abandonment)
Here’s the real one. As entrepreneurs, especially those of us raising humans while raising companies, we sacrifice. Time. Sometimes comfort. Predictability. Sometimes sleep. But we must never sacrifice our values, integrity, health and joy because a business that costs you your peace… is too expensive.
❤️ 5. The Real Valentine
This month, while you’re thinking about romantic love… Also think about: the love that built your resilience, the love that makes you fetch your child twice in one evening and the love that makes you keep going when payroll is due. That love? That’s leadership.
Entrepreneurship is an act of love:
For your family
For your community
For your employees
For the economy
You are building something bigger than a bouquet. You’re building legacy. So yes… the day will be drop-offs and pick-ups for me. And somewhere between a school social and a client call, I’ll smile. Because this season of motherhood, of leadership, of entrepreneurship is love in action. And if that’s not Valentine’s Day energy… I don’t know what is.
With strategy and heart,
