Dear Entrepreneur (Employees too),
As February unfolds, I find myself reflecting on just how intense this month has been. At the start of it, I jokingly questioned whether February was even a "real" month, given how packed my schedule looked. And true to my expectations, it has been a whirlwind of travel, meetings, and responsibilities. But in the midst of it all, I’ve had to intentionally carve out moments to recharge—because without that, busyness can become toxic, draining not only our energy but also our creativity, decision-making, and overall well-being.
As people, we often wear busyness as a badge of honor, equating it with productivity and success. We push ourselves to give it our all, constantly moving, constantly doing—sometimes even worshipping busyness itself rather than true productivity. But in doing so, we often take out our exhaustion and stress on the very people we should be recharging with—our family, our friends, and those who genuinely care for us. The irony is, these are the people who fuel us, yet when we neglect rest, they become the unintended casualties of our overwork.
So, this is your reminder: Prioritising rest is not a luxury—it is a necessity. Whether it's a short walk, an hour of solitude, a weekend break, or simply setting boundaries around your work hours, intentional moments of rest are essential for sustained success.
Your business needs you at your best. The world needs your ideas, your leadership, and your vision—but none of that can thrive if you are running on fumes. So, as you push forward in your entrepreneurial journey, make rest a non-negotiable part of your strategy (Assomblief Tog!).
Because when you take care of yourself, you show up better for your business, your team, your family and friends, and the impact you are meant to make.
Here’s to building with intention and sustaining our energy for the long game!
Yours in development,
The Business Doctor Keitumetse Lekaba
